Jen Bell

MA, BA Psych (HONs), pgDip

You have the power to create profound and lasting change in your life. I provide an authentic and safe relationship to facilitate that, through exploration, support and challenge. Using a straightforward style, I take a direct approach, allowing your needs to guide our work. I believe passionately in de-mystifying the therapeutic process and showing up as my fully human self with you.

I am experienced in working with trauma and abuse, anxiety, uncertainty, self-esteem, depression, feelings of emptiness/ detachment, loss, sexuality/identity, and childhood emotional neglect. I trained at Regent’s University, London and my orientation is psychodynamic - I am interested in the formative and sometimes unconscious experiences which shape of our current day lives. I also offer EMDR for healing trauma and getting “unstuck”.

I come from a 20 yr background in social services, and enjoy running, independent music gigs, and art.

I offer both online sessions, as well as in-person availability at Staple Inn. You can read more about my approach, availability and fees here.

I see therapy as a collaborative, supportive working relationship which provides a unique space to make sense of what is going on in your life and the way you are feeling. Together we will shed light on the difficulties you face and explore the possibilities and choices available to you, enabling you to live life more fully and to take active steps towards change.

I am experienced in working with a wide range of issues including depression, anxiety, loss, relationships and life changes. I trained at Regent's University, London. My approach is existential, a practical, relational approach which involves working with your real, lived experience rather than interpretations based on theories and models of the mind. I work both short or long term, depending on your needs.

Before training as a therapist my background was in journalism and music, and I have a special interest in performance anxiety.

I offer sessions at Staple Inn and at my practice in Clerkenwell (close to Barbican and Farringdon stations). You can find more information here.
